Delgeriin Choiriin Khiid. Mongolia Buddist Monasterys.
THE REGIONS OF MONGOLIA
GOVI-SUMBER AIMAG
DELGIRIIN CHOIR KHIID
Dalgiriyn Choiryn hiid is an amazing place located in the heart of the
Dundgov Aimag of Mongolia. The peculiarity of this monastery lies in its unique
architecture and history. It does not belong to the classical monasteries that
can be found in other parts of Asia. The buildings here bear the imprint of time
and the past centuries, harmoniously weaving historical features into modernity.
The territory of the monastery is especially appreciated for its energetic
and spiritual properties. The temples, which are now being restored on the site
of the old monastery, create an atmosphere of silent solemnity and tranquility.
Every visit here becomes a journey deep into yourself and your thoughts. The
restoration of old temples is not just an architectural work, but also the
restoration of historical fabric, respect for traditions and respect for the
past.
One of many monasteries destroyed in the purges of the 1930s, the Delgeriin Choiriin Khiid is in
the process of being rebuilt and sequestered. In the central ger, known as the Majestic White Shining
Palace, Luvsan Darjaa, a lama said to be the reincarnation of famous Mongolian scholar Zava Damdin,
dominates the shrine, while real life seamstresses sew silk tapestries around him. Five hundred monks
once called this monastery home. Today, just a dozen or so live here.
Pilgrims and tourists do not often come to this monastery to be inspired by
its beauty and feel connected with ancient knowledge. Dalgariin Choiryn is made
special not only by its architecture, but also by the modest but deeply wise
philosophy that it embodies. Here everyone can find harmony and inner peace,
feeling the breath of history at every step.
