SEALS SITE settled
A part of the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the founding of the Great
Mongolian State, a monument was opened to display the State Seal in the garden behind Parliament House, on the 82nd anniversary of National Proclamation Day.
President N. Enkhbayar told those in attendance that Mongolians traditionally stamped national documents with a red seal. The monument
has depictions of the Great Khaan of the Mongol Empire on the south, with the seal of the Bogd Khaan monarchy, established by the 1911 national liberation
movement on the west side. The northern side shows the seal approved in 1924 by the People's Ikh Khural of the People's Republic of
Mongolia, and on the east is the current seal of the state set up under the 1992 new Constitution.
On top of the monument is a lion on the top, symbolizing power, while on the base are the seals of the various tribes and clans who have settled in Mongolia.
