MUSEUMS OF EKATERINBURG
The industrial and administrative center of the Sverdlovsk region, one of the
largest cities in Russia, Yekaterinburg unofficially has the status of the
"third capital" and is of great importance in the field of history and culture
of the country. More than 60 museums of various subjects open their doors to
citizens and visitors of the city, where you can see important archaeological
sites, exhibits of great historical and cultural value, products of Ural
artisans and works of art. An excursion into the history of the city can be
obtained at the Museum of the History of Yekaterinburg with its collection of
wax figures of Russian emperors with their families, the founders of
Yekaterinburg and famous Ural entrepreneurs.

- GEOLOGICAL MUSEUM (85 Khokhryakov St.)
has 5 large departments devoted to mineralogy, common and historical geology,
showing great variety of mineral samples. Here you can buy gemstone souvenirs.
- MUSEUM OF STONE-CUTTING AND JEWELERS' ART (37 Lenin Ave.)
'Malachite Hall', 'Golg Store-room', Silver Room', 'Memories of the Future',
'Modern Stone-Cutting' are the exhibitions of stone works and jewelry.
- REGIONAL STUDIES MUSEUM (46 Malyshev St.)
One of the oldest museums of our region, open 130 years ago. Best collections of
the museum include large variety of archaeological, artistic, palaeontologic,
and metal work samples. Museum is located in the former estate of local
merchants and distillery-owners Poklevski-Kozell built in the 19th century.
- FINE ARTS MUSEUM (5 Voyevodin St.)
One of the largest art museums in the country has a good collection of unique
pieces of art, including world-wide known Kasli Cast Iron Pavilion.
- STONE MUSEUM (1 Krasnoarmeyskaya St.)
is a largest private collection of mineral samples from all over the world, the
major part divided to the Urals and other Russian deposits. The souvenir shop
offers you great choice of stone articles.
