Memorial Submarine S-56 Museum.
Legendary submarine S-56 is one of components of the memorial complex
«Military Glory of the Pacific Fleet». This is a famous Soviet Pacific Fleet submarine that sank 10 fascist (German) ships during World War II.
Submarine S-56, a boat of middle class of times of Great Patriotic war. In structure of fleet was about such 30 boats and 6 from them have received a rank Guards.
To the beginning of Great Patriotic war in structure of the Navy there were such 14 submarines, and during war was handed over to fleet 16 more. For successful operations six submarines - S-13, S-31, S-51, S-56, S-101 and S-104 - were awarded with an award of the Red Banner. To boats S-33 and S-56 the rank Guards was appropriated, and commanders of submarines of B.A.Alekseeev (S-51), G.D.ShChedrin (S-56), I.F.Kucherenko (S-51) and S.P.Lisin (S-7) are awarded with a rank of the Hero of Soviet Union.
In 1942-1943 the group of Pacific submarines has made transition through Silent and Atlantic oceans on working Northern fleet. Captain - lieutenant G.I.ShChedrin conducted S - 56 its(her) first commander. The boat has returned to 1951 to Pacific ocean on Northern sea way.
After the boat has served the put term, this ship reconstructed in training station.
To the 30-anniversary of the Victory over the Second World war one of boats became the Memorial. Visitors can get acquainted with an exposition "Development of submarines of our Native land ", visit inside a heroic boat, through the hatch to get in the central post, nosovoye a compartment where all is restored how was in days of war.
On granite stones on which the submarine is established S-56, metal boards with names of the ships and surnames of members of the crews which have lost within Great domestic war are attached.
